Sanitation
The neighbors above us had a party that lasted until about 3:40 am Wednesday morning, their music was loud enough to be heard across the street from the apartment complex. Apparently they were newbs to drinking because they threw up all over the side walk on the first floor outside of our apartment. They threw up on the stairs, they threw up in the pool. In the morning we called the office to have maintenance to come hose off the side walk and the area outside of our apartment that still reeked of vomit. It is now Saturday morning and the vomit still remains. Due to the heat and just general sitting around it's melted into the sidewalk, into the rocks but at least the smell is gone. As far as the pool, I never saw anyone come down to clean it up but I assume that the filter system has picked it all up.
Roaches
This one is great, they fumigate the apartments I'm sure because there are dead roaches everywhere. I'm afraid to stick my hand beneath the sink because it's up in the air as to what could be under there.
Before we could move in we had to vacuum all of the dead bugs up off the floor to each room.
Air Conditioning In the apartments.
First off the air conditioning system here sucks. The temperature never drops below 80 degrees anywhere within the house. We have fans to help but apparently not every apartment comes with fans. In Arizona it is pretty important to have air conditioning. However AZ Commons II doesn't seem to understand that. There is a cap on the thermostat, a lock of sorts that will not let you turn the temperature below 80 degrees.
The air conditioning system is also very weak, there is no pressure which pushes the air through the vents. That means that there isn't enough force to cool off every room in the apartment. We have to pick and choose who gets to have the cooler room that day. Our apartment has four bedrooms and a living room. So each night we have to close the vents to the living room so that our bedrooms will not be filled with sweltering heat.
After buying a thermometer to measure the room temperature we discovered on hot days if we leave the vents all open our rooms will all stay a very cool 92 degrees.
The highest temperature it has been in our apartment is 99 degrees, it stayed at that all during the day for almost an entire week in July 2011. Despite complaining to the head office the air conditioning remains weak.
It is 97 degrees outside today and it's 92 degrees inside.
Okay so...
